Responsible Resource Consumption
As a manufacturing group, we have the responsibility to utilise non-renewable resources in a manner that is as efficient as possible, that minimises wastage. Our commitment to responsible resource consumption also extends to our energy use, which we derive from a mix of renewable and non-renewable sources. As proof of our commitment, our headquarters in Malaysia is powered entirely by solar energy, a renewable energy source that produces zero emissions. We are also transitioning all our lights to LED to save energy and reduce our carbon footprint. Moreover, scrap materials from our merchandising and warehouse operations are recycled to reduce waste and promote a circular economy. Additionally, our carton boxes are made of eco-friendly materials that minimise energy consumption and waste, and are biodegradable.
Electronic waste, or e-waste, is a growing environmental issue that arises from the disposal of electronic devices. With the rapid advancements in technology, electronic devices are becoming obsolete at a much faster rate, leading to an increase in e-waste. As part of Niro Ceramic Group's commitment to sustainability, we have taken steps to tackle e-waste it by leasing, rather than buying, computers. This approach not only prevents the dumping of obsolete hardware, but also encourages refurbishing and prevents toxic substances from leaching into the land at landfills, thereby contributing to a cleaner environment.
Biodiversity Protection
The mismanagement of waste and its release into nature is a major threat to the biodiversity of our planet. To play our role in preserving biodiversity, Niro Ceramic Group commits to the treatment and disposal of waste as a result of our operations in a responsible manner, as outlined by international best practices.
Carbon Emission
Niro Ceramic Group understands that carbon emission is among the drivers of rapid climate change. We closely monitor the emissions that are created as a result of our operations and continually make effort towards reducing and offsetting them. To this end, we offer eligible employees a flexible working arrangement, reducing their daily commute and the overall carbon emissions from our operations. Additionally, we also provide free lunches on our premises, which not only boosts employee morale and productivity, but also reduces the need for employees to drive out for lunch, further contributing to our efforts in reducing carbon emissions. By promoting eco-friendly practices and creating a sustainable workplace, we are committed to being a responsible corporate citizen and making a positive impact on the environment.
